So, like an idiot, I judged a book by its cover. I hate the title "When Your Lover Leaves", I fully thought I would hate this book. I thought it would be a sappy romance. I was very wrong. This is one of my all time favorite books. While it has some romance and light BDSM, its definitely a mystery and psychological thriller. I could not put this book down!

Summary - The main characters name is (Ronda), her lover (a married man) leaves her to go back to his wife. As she deals with this heartbreak, she becomes distracted with the news of a rapist in her town. Her son (Sam) if off to college and she's living alone. This book is set in the East Bay of California, with some quick references to Oakland and San Pablo and the like, for obvious reasons this was a huge bonus to me. The "The East Bay Rapist" description is that of a "Black Male" and (Ronda) finds this all too stereotypical to be true. (Why is it always "A Black Male?" she asks herself?) So who is "The East Bay Rapist"? Could it be the WHITE COP who lives down the street from her? Or.. Could the rapist be her rebound lover, the exotic "hunk" (Ishmael) whose tanned skin just might be mistaken for black? As he shows signs of being sexually dominate, her suspicions are aroused. Her imagination still vivid and paranoid, she finds plenty of hard evidence that her former lovers wife may be "The East Bay Rapist", dressed in men's clothing and armed with a "dildo". .. LOL.......The main character (Ronda) at one point steals the cops uniform and wears it over to her ex's house with a master-plan in mind. She also has the pleasure of performing a citizens arrest at one point in the book, but it isn't on the "The East Bay Rapist"... or is it?

Book bonuses -
- Culinary , shes a soup chef
- Poetry
- East Bay References
- The paranoia of living alone for the first time, Described very accurately

Drawbacks  - The first two chapters are hard to follow with most of the characters being introduced. Her son (sam) is a moot character generally, as is her best friend. Perhaps too many characters in this book, neverless still one of my favorite books and an easy read.
